Always room for a kitchen garden!

Your own garden with the kitchen. You don’t really need a big garden or a lot of space. There’s always room for a kitchen garden wherever you live. You can produce vegetables, fruits, and herbs from your own garden for your family, with the right products and a little help from Elho before you know it! We’re glad to tell you how you can make your kitchen garden a success.

A fertile cooking garden with rising table

The first step is to recognize the possibilities. Do you have a large garden, with plenty of suns and not too much wind? You can then spend as much time and energy evolving on your own as you wish. But if you’ve got wet soil and hungry insects, it often makes your growth more difficult than ever. Therefore Elho has developed something for it: the growth table in green basics. This table has a nice working height which means that when gardening you and your children don’t have to sit on the floor. Plus, you can better keep an eye on your seed growth and give your plants a better chance of survival!

To sow, to repot, to harvest!
Good planning is the foundation as with all success stories. A useful growth calendar has been put together to support beginning mini-gardeners Elho. That’s exactly how you know when and what seed to plant, re-pot and harvest. Guaranteed success! In one article the possibilities of kitchen gardens cannot be covered. For this reason we wrote an encouraging booklet of enthusiastic growers. We’re giving you step by step inside the booklet on how to keep your vegetables, fruits and herbs safe.

Tips for garden in your kitchen

Tip 1: Note the temperature

The fastest way to succeed is to grow your own vegetables, fruit, and herbs in a seed tray. The lid provides a fun microclimate where seeds feel totally happy and growing fast. But be on watch! The ideal temperature for growth lies between 16 and 20 degrees C. Too hot the atmosphere is not ideal for seeds. Also, ensure the ventilation is fine.

Tip 2: Seeds drown in too much water

Of course, you need water to grow your seeds. But don’t be over-enthusiastic; too much water could drown your future crop. It’s important to work carefully especially at the start. Give a little water to your seeds every day, instead of much at once.

Tip 3: Roots need space

Although you don’t see it, there’s a lot happening in your soil. Carrots grow faster than you think and the pot they grow in soon becomes too small. It’s time for a bigger pot when your plant is between 4 and 6 centimeters tall. See the roots come through the pot? You are too late then already.

Tip 4: Step by Step

Did your seeds turn into plants? It is then time for them to get to know the fresh air. Still, don’t go too fast on this stage. Get this done step by step. Let the plants get used to it by only taking them out during the day at first. After a week your plants are ready for the final move outside.
